Which inverter brands are supported?
FoxESS and AlphaESS are fully supported today. Sigenergy onboarding is available in beta via the official developer-app flow. Tesla Powerwall and Sungrow onboarding are available now in beta. NeoVolt is available and labelled Testing; connect it in Setup, choose the system to use, and continue straight into the app. Sungrow setup requires an iSolarCloud developer portal account with an App Key and Secret Key (free to register). Sigenergy currently supports direct public work-mode control, while scheduler-backed charge and discharge automation remains limited. More brands are on the roadmap — let us know which you'd like to see next.
Do I need to be an electrician or developer?
No. SoCrates connects to your inverter through the manufacturer's existing cloud API using the credentials that provider exposes. No hardware modifications, no coding — just copy the required serial, API, or developer-portal details into the setup wizard.
Which electricity retailers / price feeds are supported?
AEMO live regional prices, Amber Electric, Flow Power, and manual tariffs are available for price-aware automation.
Do you support EV integration?
Yes. Tesla EV integration is available now through Settings. You can connect by VIN with OAuth, view EV readiness and status on the dashboard, use start/stop/set-charge-limit controls, and run Tesla charging rules alongside battery automation when Tesla command prerequisites are met.
How does automation work — is it always-on?
Yes. SoCrates runs a configurable cloud scheduler that evaluates your rules in priority order on the cadence you set. The first matching battery rule wins that lane, and Tesla charging rules can run in parallel on a separate lane. You can pause automation globally with the Master toggle any time.
Is my inverter API key stored securely?
Credentials are stored encrypted in Google Firestore with per-user access rules. They are never returned to the browser after initial setup or shared with third parties.
Will the first 1000 users stay free?
Yes. Early members get free access. If and when pricing changes for new sign-ups in the future, we're committed to giving early members ample notice and fair options. Right now, the focus is on building something genuinely useful.
What happens after the 1000 spots fill up?
Pricing for sign-ups beyond the first 1000 is TBD — community-first, nothing extractive. We'll involve early members in that conversation before anything changes.
